![]() ![]() The narrative, while roughly chronological, is arranged into topical chapters. This book feels more like stream-of-consciousness type writing. She’s outspoken and clear, but I didn’t get the sense she’s spent much time reflecting on her life. On the other side, I don’t entirely trust Crow Dog as a narrator. This is what the Charlotte Mason homeschoolers would call a “living book.” While the general indigenous books I’ve read have touched on these topics, it’s so much more vivid and real to be reading the passionate story of one person’s lived experiences. My schooling did not cover much about indigenous history, and the catch-up reading I’ve been doing as an adult has mostly focused on Great Lakes tribes. However, instead it was an education!Ĭertainly, I’ve learned a lot from this book about the AIM movement, Sioux peoples, Wounded Knee, and events of recent indigenous history. I wasn’t familiar with this title when I got it and started reading with only the basic knowledge that it was a Native American woman’s autobiography. George: A Whole New World: A Twisted Tale by Liz Braswell is a new series for Disney that takes a well-loved animated film and turns it on it’s ear. ![]() ![]() A Whole New World: A Twisted Tale by Liz Braswell What if Aladdin had never found the magic lamp? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() One of the most famous comic book stories involving Wolverine took place in one of the more unlikely places, as while Wolverine was the lead feature in Marvel Comics Presents when the twice a month comic book anthology debuted in 1988, and had re-taken the lead spot after a 28-issue attempt to have other X-Men characters (Like Colossus, Cyclops, Excalibur and Havok) didn't work out, you'd have to go back to the original story arc by Chris Claremont and John Buscema, and perhaps a 1991 team-up with Ghost Rider (who would later co-headline the series with Wolverine in a flip book format) by Howard Mackie and Mark Texeiera that really felt like they were anything but roughly inventory story level stories (despite some EXCELLENT creators being involved, like Marv Wolfman and a second stint by Buscema). I would recommend reading EMBRACE before ENTICE in order to get all of the backstory, espcially since ENTICE has little recap to bring readers up to speed. The first book, EMBRACE, starts out slowly and is mostly a set-up for future books, but the story really gets its wings on its way into ENTICE. While the series still can't top UNEARTHLY for me, it does rank higher than the other angel books in the YA genre that I've read.
